Whangarata Community Hall

Just ten minutes drive from Pokeno, Whangarata Hall is a historic community hall, set on spacious lawns. Built as a schoolhouse in (date), Whangarata Hall features two generously-sized, connected rooms with power throughout, men’s and women’s bathrooms, and a kitchen suitable for food storage or preparation. 

The venue features an asphalt area which can be used for parking, games, or set up a marquee for extra space for your event. 

Whangarata Community Centre began life as a two-roomed schoolhouse, with on-site teachers cottage, in 1886. Although briefly interrupted by a fire in the 1920s the school continued (variously a post office and library) until 1968.

Original elements include sash windows, wooden floors, and even a blackboard! 

Whangarata Hall is one of the cheapest community halls for hire in the Auckland/Waikato area. It is available to hire from $120 for 24 hours, plus bond (subject to change depending on seasonality). Get in touch for availability and an exact quote.

Before you book, please be aware of the following.

We asks that all guests be respectful of our neighbours and keep noise to a reasonable level. Any music/amplified sound must be turned off after midnight.

Whangarata Hall is a community hall, which is not serviced by cleaners. All users must leave it in a clean and tidy state or forfeit their bond. As the hall occasionally sits empty, it is highly recommended you allow time to visit before your event to ensure the hall is in the best state and clean if required.

Whangarata Community Centre is located at 6 Ewing Road, Tuakau, about an hour’s drive from Auckland, and ten minutes drive from Pokeno. Unfortunately, there is no public transport in the area. Plenty of on-street parking is available. Whangarata Community Centre is equipped with the following:

• Chairs and tables suitable for meetings
